Unreleased Velvet Underground Song ‘I’m Not a Young Man Anymore’ Surfaces

‘I’m Not a Young Man Anymore,’ a previously unreleased live track by the Velvet Underground, has hit the web. The song was recorded at the Gymnasium in New York on April 30, 1967, and according to the NME, it’s rumored to be the tune’s one and only public airing.
The live cut will appear on the forthcoming reissue of the seminal New York City group’s 1968 album ‘White Light/White Heat.’ Due out on Dec. 3, the three-disc, 30-track set was co-curated by Velvets founders John Cale and Lou Reed, and it’s stuffed with bonus material, including new mixes, alternate takes and various unreleased outtakes.
Produced by Tom Wilson — who’d worked with the likes of Bob Dylan, Sun Ra and Simon and Garfunkel — ‘White Light/White Heat’ was recorded in just two days. It was the Velvet Underground’s second studio album and last to feature Cale.
